Composer George Fenton will conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra, performing his score alongside a specially edited feature presentation of HD footage from the landmark BBC series.

Tickets will go on general sale on the 2nd May with all information available from www.planetearthinconcert.com. The tour opens at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham on 7th September and will travel to Cardiff; Birmingham; Manchester and London visiting some of the UK’s most prestigious concert venues.

George Fenton said: “To see Planet Earth in the concert hall is a completely different experience from any other way of seeing this footage. With an 80 piece orchestra and huge screen, it becomes an immersive experience, something to share and celebrate.  For the musicians and myself Planet Earth is always a special night.”

Planet Earth was the first natural history series to be filmed entirely in high definition, providing an unparalleled view of magnificent landscapes from across the globe and incredible footage of the rarely spotted, almost mythical creatures that live in these habitats. Fenton has created a new theatrical presentation especially for this concert using the BBC’s groundbreaking footage.

Alastair Fothergill, series producer for Planet Earth, said: “Planet Earth in Concert is a stunning event, allowing audiences to enjoy George’s amazing score performed live against incredible HD footage. Fans of the series will be in for a fantastic treat.”

Planet Earth in Concert played six major cities in the US in 2010 breaking audience figures in Chicago. The Dallas Star described it as a “moving, majestic spectacle”.
