BBC World News Nobel Prize Special: Nobel Minds and HARDTalk profile this year’s winners
In Nobel Minds, Zeinab Badawi talks to this year’s Science winners from the Kings Library of the Royal Palace in Stockholm, and Stephen Sackur interviews Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee and Tawakul Karman for the HARDTalk special.
Every year at this time the Nobel Prize honours the world’s top scientists. This programme asks why so few of them have global profile with the general public, even though they make groundbreaking discoveries which improve and shape the lives of people around the world. The BBC’s Zeinab Badawi will be discussing that and more with this year’s science winners from the very special King's Library of the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

This year's Nobel Peace Prize has been split between three women with exceptional lives. Both Liberians President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Leymah Gbowee have been pivotal in Liberia's return to peace after years of civil war where rape and sexual slavery were common weapons. Tawakul Karman has been at the heart of Yemen's protests which have forced President Saleh to step down in the next elections. All three talk to Stephen Sackur in Oslo about finding a voice in countries where, traditionally, women had few rights and little power.
The programmes will broadcast on BBC World News on the following dates and times (all GMT):
Nobel Minds: Saturday 10 December at 09:10 and 22:10, and Sunday 11 December at 02:10 and 15:10.
