Our Friend Victoria
Tuesday 25 April
Michael guides us through a selection of classic clips, including stand-up from the Albert Hall; Victoria’s spoof documentary Mr. Right; Italian Restaurant and Family Planning from As Seen On TV; plus standout moments from Dinnerladies.
As a life-long fan, Michael reveals why he was so terrified when he first met his comedy hero Victoria. After a rocky start, the pair hit it off and remained very close friends. He is joined by Duncan Preston who recalls why it was so difficult to shoot the iconic scene, Not On The Eiderdown, from Pat And Margaret, with Victoria and Thora Hird.
Anne Reid opens up about how Victoria was responsible for her big break in comedy. While former cast mates, including Maxine Peake and Shobna Gulati, remember the hilarious bed-hopping antics of their characters in the smash hit comedy Dinnerladies.
Fans and friends including Julie Walters, Joanna Scanlan and Andrew Dunn pick out their favourite moments, and along with rare photos from Victoria’s own personal archive, make this series a must-see for Victoria Wood fans.
Michael rounds off the show by introducing a song from the archives - but not just any song: this is one of Victoria’s most famous, The Ballad Of Barry And Freda.
