Dougie Vipond hosts the morning action from the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, on BBC Three.

The home nation has high hopes for swimming star Michael Jamieson, who will be competing in the 200m breaststroke on the opening day.

Track cycling gets underway at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, with medals on offer in the men’s team sprint and team pursuit and the women’s time trial.

From 1400 to 1900 Lee McKenzie takes over presenting duties for the first afternoon of the Games. The Welsh netball team will have a tough challenge in their first match when they face tournament favourites Australia, while the Women’s Time Trial is among the medals decided in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, where England’s Jess Varnish will hope to challenge Australian star Anna Meares.

Dan Walker is live from 1400 to 1900 where England’s men will be expecting victory in their first hockey match of the group stage when they take on Trinidad & Tobago, while there are high hopes for home nation’s medals in the evening’s judo finals.
