Gospel Choir Of The Year

Confirmed for BBC One on 6 October at 4.15pm to 4.50pm

Ep 1/2

Sunday 6 October

Over the next two Sundays, Songs Of Praise presents six of the best amateur gospel choirs from around the UK showcasing their singing talents on BBC One - as they sing before a panel of celebrity judges who have the hard task of selecting just one choir to become the first-ever Songs Of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year.

Presenter David Grant will introduce the two programmes, in front of a packed and enthusiastic audience, from the Town Hall Birmingham.

The judges are singer-songwriter and actress Ruby Turner; founder of the London Community Gospel Choir, Bazil Meade; and vocal coach and television presenter Carrie Grant.

The six choirs who will take part are: Hope Community Gospel Choir from Nottingham; Birmingham Community Gospel Choir; One Voice Community Choir from Preston; Faith Works from London; the Town Hall Gospel Choir from Birmingham; and Fountain of Praise from Dagenham in Essex.

Music includes, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, Total Praise, Blessed Assurance, Battle Hymn Of The Republic, Kumbayah and Jesus Paid It All.
