The Beatles’ Please Please Me – Remaking A Classic

Friday 15 February

9.00pm-10.00pm

BBC FOUR

NEW
On the 50th anniversary of the famous 12-hour session at Abbey Road that resulted in the Beatles’ genre-defining album Please Please Me, leading artists will attempt the same session, delivering 11 songs, in the same timescale, in the same studio.

The session will start at 10:00 am and finish at 10.30pm. Stuart Maconie will host the day at Abbey Road and on BBC Four, with Jo Whiley presenting a special Radio 2 programme live from the iconic studio between 7:00 and 10:30pm. People lucky enough to have been there 50 years ago will help tell the remarkable story of what happened that day, giving fresh insight along the way, including engineer Richard Langham and Beatles’ press officer Tony Barrow.

This recreation of one of the most iconic albums in pop music history is the centrepiece of The Golden Age of the Album - a two week celebration across BBC Four, Radio 2 and 6 Music.
