Cherry Healey: How To Get A Life - Can Your Looks Change Your Life?

Cherry Healey. Photographer: BBC/Emilie Fjola Sandy

Cherry explores if looks have become more important than personality and asks if vanity is necessarily a negative concept.

Following the birth of her daughter and a year of sleepless nights, Cherry wants to get back on the rollercoaster of modern life - but has she been left behind?

To find out, she goes on a journey to examine life's absurdities - from 24/7 lifestyles, to people’s obsession with their looks and the nation's enthusiasm for pill-popping. Throughout the series, she meets a wide range of young people living in modern Britain and gets a taste of living in their world - before inviting them into her life.

In episode three Cherry encounters those who obsess about their looks, those who deny the notion of beauty and has to decide if she can stop shaving her body hair and if she’s prepared to have a tattoo.
