Sunday Morning Live returns to BBC One with new presenter Sian Williams
It'll be exciting, stimulating and great fun to host Sunday Morning Live, talking to key people across Britain about the big issues of the week. I can't wait to be part of the team.Sian Williams
Sian will front the topical ethical and religious discussion programme when it returns to BBC One from Sunday 22 June 2014. Sian has a wealth of experience presenting news, current affairs and factual programmes (such as BBC Breakfast and Radio 4’s Saturday Live) as well as presenting on major news events such as the 70th anniversary of D-Day; Margaret Thatcher’s funeral; the 2012 Olympics and the Royal Wedding.
As well as chairing discussions with an opinionated and lively panel of guests on the big talking points of the week, Sian will also conduct single, close up interviews.
Sian Williams said: “It'll be exciting, stimulating and great fun to host Sunday Morning Live, talking to key people across Britain about the big issues of the week. I can't wait to be part of the team.”
In addition to its new host, Sunday Morning Live will also have a new home and a new look. The upcoming series will broadcast from London from the high-tech studio used on weekdays by The One Show at New Broadcasting House. The show’s production base will remain in Belfast.
The programme will also introduce new content: for the first time the show will include regular live outside broadcasts, talking to and hearing from people around the UK, giving the studio panel and viewers at home an insight into the national mood on key stories.
Dave Stanford, Editor of Sunday Morning Live, said: “Sian is a brilliant broadcaster with great warmth and authority. I’m looking forward to her interviews lighting up Sunday mornings.”
Aaqil Ahmed, the BBC’s Head of Religion and Ethics, commented: “Sunday mornings are important moments to analyse and reflect on topical events across all our religious output on the BBC and I’m really excited about the changes we’ve made for the new run of Sunday Morning Live. I can't wait to see the new elements we have planned and it's fantastic to continue our long line of top-class presenting talent by welcoming Sian to the hot seat.”
