This will be the first time the Eighties group has performed together in 15 years, and will add to an already incredible line-up at the castle on Saturday 19 July.
Boy George, lead singer of Culture Club, says: “Jon, Mikey, Roy and me are all looking forward to Culture Club coming together and playing live for the first time in 15 years for this BBC event in Edinburgh ahead of our UK tour in December."
Culture Club will be joined by an array of big names for the concert, which will be shown live on BBC One and presented by the One Show’s Alex Jones. As previously announced, the performers include Kaiser Chiefs, Smokey Robinson, Rizzle Kicks, Paloma Faith, Katherine Jenkins, Il Divo, One Republic, Taio Cruz, Alfie Boe and Pumeza.
Bill Bailey will also bring his unique brand of musical humour to the evening, with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Fred MacAulay making a special guest appearance too.
Executive producer Guy Freeman says: “Having Culture Club perform for the first time in 15 years is fantastic in its own right, but for them to be part of an already amazing line-up really will make this a very special night. I’m sure the band’s legions of fans in Scotland will be delighted they’ve chosen the capital to kick off their comeback.”
