Tickets on sale for star-studded Caerphilly BBC Proms In The Park 2013
West End singing stars John Owen Jones and Sophie Evans will be joined on stage by trumpet soloist Alison Balsom, all of them accompanied by BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales under the baton of Grant Llewellyn at the open-air event supported by Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Celebrating the Last Night of the Proms along with parks across the UK, the event held at Owain Glyndŵr Playing Fields is themed 'A Night at the Musicals'.
Carmarthenshire-born West End and Broadway actor John Owen Jones, known for his outstanding lead roles in Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera, will be joined by Tonypandy's Sophie Evans, who has moved on from her role as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz to delight audiences around the country during her national tour. Alison Balsom - recently nominated for Gramophone Artist of the Year 2013 and described as one of the world's finest trumpeters - will be performing fresh new arrangements for trumpet and orchestra of well-known and much-loved songs from stage and screen.
Tim Rhys-Evans and Connie Fisher will co-present this year’s Prom, bringing the summer festivities to a close. Music lovers are invited to come with picnics and flags to celebrate at this open-air event, culminating in the traditional sing-along featuring the popular You’ll Never Walk Alone this year.
Prom-goers can also capture the atmosphere from the comfort of their own home, with live coverage from Owain Glyndŵr Playing Fields on BBC Radio Wales or on iPlayer via bbc.co.uk/radiowales.
