Anna Foster announced as Radio 5 live’s new Drive co-presenter
I'm delighted to be joining the team and working alongside one of the country's great broadcasters in Peter."Anna Foster
Anna has been a regular on 5 live since 2005 when she joined as a reporter, before becoming the station’s regional reporter in the North East of England and then co-presenter on Weekend Breakfast with Phil Williams.
Anna, from South Shields in Tyne and Wear, has worked across BBC Radio for the last decade as a presenter and reporter.
She has broadcast from Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as covering major stories across the UK - from the Cumbrian shootings and search for Raoul Moat to the London Marathon and Olympic Torch Relay. Last summer she co-anchored BBC Radio 5 live Olympics Extra, a dedicated digital station for the London 2012 games.
Commenting on her new role, Anna said: "Drive is simply a fantastic news programme, and well-known for its outstanding journalism. I'm delighted to be joining the team and working alongside one of the country's great broadcasters in Peter."
Anna, who has recently become a mum for the first time to baby Benjamin, is currently co-presenting 5 live Drive each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and will take-up the position full-time around May.
On Anna joining the show, her co-presenter, Peter Allen said: “Anna is highly professional and already a friend. I can honestly say she is one of the most talented broadcasters with whom I have worked.”
Until Anna takes on the permanent role with 5 live Drive, BBC Breakfast’s Louise Minchin will continue to regularly host the show alongside Peter.
Acting Controller of 5 live, Jonathan Wall, added: “Anna has been an integral member of our news presenting and reporting team for over seven years. She has done a superb job on Weekend Breakfast and I’m delighted that she will now be joining Peter on 5 live Drive full-time. Together they make a wonderful team; intelligent and informative with a lot of fun and enjoyment along the way.”
5 live Drive broadcasts Monday to Friday each week from 4pm to 7pm.
