Also returning is Rik Mayall (Bottom, The New Statesman, Blackadder and The Young Ones) in his role as DI Gideon Pryke.

The guest cast list for the episode will include: Sarah Alexander (Me And Mrs Jones, The Worst Week, The Jury, Green Wing), Joanna Lumley (The Wolf Of Wall Street, Absolutely Fabulous), Nigel Planer (I Give It A Year, The List, The Hunt For Tony Blair, plus new West End musical Charlie & The Chocolate Factory) and Hasina Haque (Casualty, I Give It A Year).

In The Clue Of The Savant's Thumb, Creek and fellow investigator Joey Ross are drawn into a complex case involving a secret society, seemingly supernatural events at a girls' boarding school, and the miraculous disappearance of a body in front of three witnesses.
