Following last night’s thrilling final, watched by 2.7m viewers (12% share), the channel has confirmed that Great British Sewing Bee will be returning for a new 6x60-minute series next year.

Claudia Winkleman presented the series which saw eight hopefuls tested on their sewing and dressmaking skills and concluded last night with 81-year-old Ann crowned Britain’s best amateur sewer.

Janice Hadlow, Controller, BBC Two, said: “I'm delighted that BBC Two viewers have taken this series to their hearts. It has proved that an ill-fitting zip or badly placed dart can make for compelling television in much the same way as a soggy bottom on Great British Bake Off and I can't wait for the next series."

The series was commissioned for BBC Features by Commissioning Editor, Alison Kirkham and Emma Willis, Commissioning Executive, and by Janice Hadlow, Controller, BBC Two and will be made by Love Productions, where it will be executive produced by Anna Beattie.
