The National Lottery: Break The Safe returns to BBC One on Saturday nights
On its first outing Break The Safe delivered great contestants and gripping gameplay, all expertly managed by Nick Knowles. We are delighted to be bringing the show back to BBC One for a second series."Alan Tyler, Executive Editor, Entertainment Commissioning
Hosted by Nick Knowles, the 7x45-minute series will once again see three pairs battle it out to ‘break the safe’ and win up to a £100,000 cash prize.
First airing in July 2013, series one of Break The Safe was BBC One’s highest rated entertainment show of the summer.
The National Lottery: Break The Safe has been commissioned by Charlotte Moore, Controller BBC One; Mark Linsey, Controller Entertainment Commissioning; and Executive Editor Entertainment Commissioning, Alan Tyler.
The three couples will take part in a question and answer session to determine which will be the last pair standing who will ultimately attempt to ‘break the safe’. The safe contains £100,000 – but how much one pair will play for depends on how much money they earn throughout the various Q&A rounds in the show.
“We loved series one! Not only was it exciting and nerve wracking for our contestants in the studio - the viewers at home watching felt the tension too! We’re really looking forward to bringing the show back to screens for Saturday nights," commented Suzy Lamb, Head of Entertainment, Thames and Executive Producer, Break The Safe.
Alan Tyler added: "On its first outing Break The Safe delivered great contestants and gripping gameplay, all expertly managed by Nick Knowles. We are delighted to be bringing the show back to BBC One for a second series."
The executive producers are Suzy Lamb and Sarah Thomson-Woolley for Thames and Alan Tyler for the BBC.
