Shelagh Fogarty’s Radio 5 live programme (weekdays, 12-2pm) will become the first programme to broadcast live from inside the House of Lords on Tuesday July 10.

The programme will discuss the proposed reforms of the House of Lords, which are being debated in the House of Commons next week.

The Lord Speaker, Baroness D'Souza, will give Shelagh a tour of the Chamber, the voting lobbies and explain the workings of the Upper House. A group of 5 live listeners who've never set foot in Parliament before will accompany Shelagh, giving their views and putting their questions to peers throughout the programme.

Guests include Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Professor of Surgery Lord Kakkar and a number of hereditary peers.

Shelagh Fogarty said: "This is an incredible opportunity to see behind the scenes of an institution that many know of but few know well. I'm fascinated to have a look around."
