Colin Murray presents BeSpoke, brand new cycling magazine show for Radio 5 live
We saw a huge response to the cycling success over the summer and knew we needed to increase our coverage of the sport not just in terms of live commentary, but with magazine shows like this. It will be a great addition to our 5 live sport schedule."Jonathan Wall, Acting Controller, BBC Radio 5 live
The new magazine show will air monthly on a Friday evening and talk to key names in cycling about their careers and the lifestyle behind the sport.
On the first show will be double Olympic champion Ed Clancy and Jo Rowsell, who won gold in the team pursuit event in London 2012.
With an *estimated two million people currently cycling at least once a week, BeSpoke will look at the recreational, as well as the high performance end, of this massively popular and growing sport.
Watch out also for the monthly 'Chopper Challenge' – which will involve top professional cyclists being timed round the Manchester Velodrome on a Chopper bike.
A sneak preview with Team GB BMX Olympian Liam Phillips taking the challenge is available on the 5 live website, where the BeSpoke podcast can also be found after broadcast.
