BBC Radio Cymru has announced the appointment of Lowri Rhys Davies to the role of Radio Cymru Editor for General Programming.

Lowri will work closely with the Head of Welsh Language Programmes and Services, Sian Gwynedd, and will be responsible for commissioning and overseeing all of the station’s general programming, both in-house and external.

A producer for BBC Radio Cymru since 2003, Lowri has also acted as assistant editor on numerous occasions since 2008. During this time she has been responsible for managing staff in Cardiff and worked closely with in-house and external companies, developing ideas and providing feedback on programming.

Head of Welsh Language Programmes and Services, Sian Gwynedd says: “Lowri has years of experience producing a variety of radio programmes and of leading production teams. She has a good knowledge of Radio Cymru as a station and I’m confident she will lay strong foundations for the future of the station.”

Lowri Rhys Davies says: “Radio Cymru is personally very important to me - it’s the station I was brought up listening to, and I’ve had the privilege of working as a producer here for nearly a decade. I’m very much looking forward to leading the teams who work in Bangor and Cardiff through a period of change and to ensure Radio Cymru continues to deliver strong and creative programming that is relevant to our audience.”
