Our saved Maria talks about being kept in the competition.
Sunday 3rd September
Yes, it's me for yet another week. My memoirs must be worth publishing by now – surely?
What can I say about Saturday? I couldn't help but be amused - what else can I do? Breaking down and crying isn't going to improve the situation. I don't know how my family held it together, and I don't know how the panel did either.
I don't know how I had the courage to stand up there, but I guess I delivered something. I'm still smiling - what in the world is there to be upset about? I'm in the final five, and this is where I wanted to get to – anything else is an absolute bonus.
Why is Andrew still saving me if I've no star quality? Surely there must be a little sometimes for him to keep me in. What he doesn't know that his music is responsible for beginning my success. I won my first song festival when I was 14 singing There's Me from Starlight Express. If I had known then that I'd be here now, I'd have thought it was crazy!
And the other four girls are great. My odds are miniscule now, but they're so happy to have me and I'm over the moon to still be here.

I don't see you as Maria but agree that you have performed remarkably well in the numerous sing-offs. You handle the situation with grace & dignity and a truly high standard of singing under such pressure. Watching Simona & Leanne fall apart in their sing-offs really showed up what you are made of - well done & good luck for the future.

helena,you have avery unique and beautifull voice, you may not be right for this particular part BUT iwatch you every week and all i can see is "COSSETTE" from LES MISERABLES you would be perfect for that part.so IF you dont get maria you HAVE to audition for that part, and im sure there would be "no contest" good luck and dont ever stop singing x

helena has one of the best voices in the contest and it is a joy to listen to her, so i dont no why no-one is voting for her its not about looks or personality good luck hope your not in the sing off, it should be you or Eoifa maybe siobhan.

I have been phoning up and texting like mad each week - not just because I know you (and I am so proud of you!!!x….) but because you are by far the most talented and genuine person in this competition and so many people have said it! I have to mention, it seems that the other girls are putting on a ‘front’ but you are showing them real talent / feeling and very consistent, which is reliable on a West End stage. You also have the stamina to do this and you deserve to win honey - give it your all on Saturday – I wanna to see some dancing!!(Another talent of yours remember!) I think actually it is a good thing that Helena is always in the end singing in front of ALW. Every week again he can see en hear that she is an amazing talent. Helena: you always sing better in the end then during the actually show! You really have the best voice, you never drop a note!

Helena you were the best. The only reason I can think of that you were in the bottom two, is that the public love your voice and want to hear it again and again. All three songs were beautifully sung, as you are a beautiful girl with so much talent. When will people realise this. Has anyone said you would make a fab Christine in Phantom? Go girl. I think Helena is fantastic - she may not always perform her song that well but she always sings beautifully in the sing off at the end. She is far more graceful than Abi and her voice is much more "maria" than we give her credit for. I really want Helena to be successful and prove the voters wrong.

Another great performance and two amazing sing off performances. To be in the bottom two again just proves the public truly are ignorant of talent and couldn't spot it if it smacked them in the face! ALW knows that you are one of probably only 2 or 3 girls that could take on this role and I think he realises what a mistake it was to make you sing crazy chick the first week as you've always had a mountain to climb since. You have the best voice in the competition, the strongest character and you are the most proffesionnal by far. Good luck for next week, but whatever happens you will go far.

Oh Helena, you poor thing. I would love to see you come 4th in this competition, but with the polls it looks like you'll be in the bottom 2 again. I think you're brilliant, but I don't see you as Maria whereas Connie, Aoife and Siobhan are all better. Abi, on the other hand - is not. She's through on her personality alone.

I've been thinking about Saturday. I realised there was little point in Andrew's saving you in the first sing-off,with Simona, only to let you go, in the second one, with Leanne. I feel you have star quality and a lovely personality, but accept, as you do, the competition will be intense this coming Saturday. I hope you'll be safe this time, but, if this is to be your final week, please do ask Andrew whether he has other openings you may go for. I presume Maria will require an understudy. Maybe another part in the same show would suit. He suggested Simona audition for Evita. He obviously appreciates what you do. You've nothing to lose, should you be knocked-out. Whatever happens, I wish you the very best of luck, this weekend - and hopefully, in the final, too!

I don't know why Helena keeps ending up in the sing off.
I think with the right songs she is she is really very good and very attractive.
All things considered it's unlikly she will win but hopefully she will have showcased her talents and go on to better things

Well done Helena even when things are against you you still rise to the challenge and perform like a star. You have a wonderful voice - just be a little more aware of some of those facial expressions- the camera can be quite cruel at times. Hold on to the fact that Andrew wouldn't repeatedly save you unless he believed in you! Best of luck.

I'm not at all surprised that Andrew keeps saving Helena - she could do a competent job as Maria, whereas Leanne would have been out of her depth, and it's completely the wrong part for Simona. I'm also not surprised the other girls are happy to still have Helena - they know she's very unlikely to be serious competition for them. I reckon Helena will be put out of her misery next Saturday, with Abi being eliminated with her.

I think you have conducted yourself magnificently throughout the competition. Although I don't think you will win this one, there are many roles in musical theatre that would suit you down to the ground. After the show is over don't waste any time thinking about what might have been and use the exposure the programme has given you to really kick-start your career.
