Meliz's Diary: Thursday
Meliz talks about having the stamina to be Maria.
Thursday 25th August
Oh my gosh, my body has never ached so much but it was all worth it! I woke up laughing to myself, as I still couldn't believe I jumped off that wall in the assault courseå but I'd definitely do it all again!
We were back in lessons today and it was a jam-packed ten hours of intensive staging with Craig, our choreographer, and singing lessons with Zoe. I was extremely tired but it must have been the adrenaline that pulled me through, as I didn't stop working all day.
It made me realise that I definitely have the stamina to do eight shows a week, and although I was daunted by the prospect of running in public and completing the assault course, I just threw myself into and really surprised myself.
For me, it showed that even if I am daunted or slightly scared of something, my determination and stamina will always pull me through. I have learnt so much about myself, about the hard work required for a role as challenging as Maria and about how much energy I actually have!
I am enjoying this experience so much and I feel so fortunate to wake up every day doing what I have always wanted to do. It all feels like a dream, as it seems too good to be true and I'm savouring every moment. I can't wait until Saturday, to feel the energy in the studio, the energy pumping through me and the energy of giving a live performance. It's going to be a fab show... I'm so excited!
