Helena's Diary: Wednesday
Helena talks napping and acting.
Yay! A lie in until 8:30am, that meant a definite eight - hour sleep. Unfortunately, I am not great on less than eight hours of snooze time, besides I've heard you live longer the more sleep you have. A great excuse for a nap methinks.
We had press in this morning which we weren't prepared for - I would have brought concealer- doh!
We also now have framed pictures of each of us in our common room. Bizzarely, when I walked in the room today mine had fallen off and was on the floor. You couldn't help but read things into that- scary! Is it a sign? And a sign of what? Best not to dwell on it.
Everyone's quieter today, maybe they're concentrating on the task at hand, with so much less time this week and it being our last rehearsal day, the pressure is on.
Tomorrow we have our þMaria Mission'. I think it's going to be an acting exercise. Maybe workshopping a scene from the script, so I'm going to read the libretto this evening just in case, plus it's always good to keep the aim in sight.
It's always great to make new connections and yesterday it was with Abi during Jeremy's acting class. We had to walk around the room with eye contact, we then froze and reached out to someone close to us. Jeremy then asked Abi and I to slowly make our way towards each other and then recite lyrics from our songs.
However, it was the others' task to keep us apart. We were literally dragged away from each other and we felt the force of the other girls trying with all their might until they then had to let us go and we grabbed each other. What relief we felt at being able to be together, the more we were pulled apart the more we wanted each other.
It made us communicate on a whole other level, we couldn't think about the words - we were driven by a subtext and the words that flowed between us took on a whole new meaning that we weren't even aware of. The exercise stops you affecting the words, but lets the words effect you.
Jeremy says: þActing is something we do when we don't know what the hell else to do!' I love that!
Now Abi and I have shared a little intimate moment which was very special and which only the two of us can explain.
