The fashion PA is determined to give it her best shot.
Meliz, our potential Maria from Chingford, feels honoured to have been picked as one of the ten finalists in How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?
"I'm so proud of being in a competition where everyone is so absolutely brilliant. We're all completely different; vocally and personality-wise – there's a span of ages as well – and I think the spark of this competition is that no one really knows who could play the role."
"If I go home on Saturday I'll be devastated, I will be extremely proud I've got this far though. At the moment my main concern is the first show - to show the public and the experts why I should be here and why I should be considered for the role."
So, what's it like living in the Maria House?
"It's a crazy house. Some people go the gym every night, some people like to go to bed earlyå I love to cook. I think it's pointless cooking for one person. I'm going to stop that now as I need to concentrate as well."
Meliz likes everyone in the house, especially room mates Laura, Belinda and Helena, plus Abi and Aoife. "We have such a giggle. We stay up and watch the worst reality TV – I mean, who'd want to be in a reality TV programme?!!"
Meliz won't be drawn on who she thinks will win but she had this to say:
"We all want it, I think. I want it more every single day. Connie did say, 'All my life everybody has said this role is perfect for me and it's come along now'. It made me feel like there's something a lot deeper in it for her."
When asked whether she had any tactics for winning through this week, Meliz said, "I'm just going to carry on doing what I do. There's a reason I was picked for this final ten and so I bring out those reasons. I've got to keep believing in myself."

Such a great performance with such a bad song. I didn't see the 9.25 show tonight but having seen the first one, I knew she would be in the bottom two - not because of how she can sing and who she is but because it was such a terrible song. M, I hope you get a better one next week. Wherever you are from doesn't matter, you can sing and you are beautiful. That's what matters. Maria or not, you are a star. Keep up the good work.

Meliz to win! She is head and shoulders above the rest of the girls. Her rendition of 'Son of a Preacher Man' was absolutely phenomenal -- even Lord Lloyd Webber agreed that she had out-Dusty'd Dusty Springfield. She is absolutely natural onstage, unlike the other girls who either over-acted or failed to bring their songs alive. Meliz has a fabulous voice and copes admirably under pressure, a definite star in the making. No question about it: Meliz is the new Maria.
