This
is how some of the toilets looked before the work began |
The
toilets were top of the wish list as being an area that needed a
bit of a makeover so BBC Voices Volunteer Co-ordinator, Cathy Bailey
was first to roll her sleeves up.
'We
wanted to show the spirit of the Voices project making a difference
so the toilet project gave us something to create a bit of a colourful
splash with,' said Cathy. And
that's what we did - starting this Easter with the Junior Loos -
a set of boys and a set of girls.
ICI
Dulux Decorator Centre in Greenacres Road, Oldham provided us with
some jazzy colours - a shocking pink scheme for the girls - which
now looks like a more grown up powder room. Modern resin moulded
seats with bubble patterns transformed the toilets - thanks to John
Lewis.
The
boys have a seaside theme with banana dream yellow and a bright
orange. There are new orange and purple seats and some jazzy new
tiling.

Cathy
and the BBC Voices team would also like to thank Alex at Millennium
Volunteers, the Plumbers from Stockport College, Wilkinsons, Focus
Do it All, B&Q, Asda at Longsight for providing lunches and Tony
and Peter who did most of the hard work.
The
rest of the toilets are due to be completed at the end of May.

real life changing rooms makeover when they return after the Easter
break!
