Sankey's gets dressed
updated 11/06/04
Paula Bowes A lot of clubs have their own merchandise but not many hold a competition for the hottest new design talent to come up with their entire range. Never ones to let a great idea pass them by, Sankey's Soap have done just that and we went down to meet the winner.

Paula Bowes is a first year fashion design student at Manchester Metropolitan University and had never entered a competition like this before.

"There were a couple of competition offers being floated around college and I decided that because I go clubbing at Sankey's, this was the one I wanted to go for. I based my designs around the history of Sankey's and the fact that it used to be a soap factory. I'm really pleased with the result. It'll be strange but really great to see my design walking around on people and I feel that this is a great way to start my design career."

Sankey's Kirsty Smith was the driving force behind the competition. "I just thought that our clubbers would appreciate something that was exclusively designed with them in mind and it was a project that I'd been working on for some time. I'm very pleased with the results. I think the entrants have really got into the whole idea of what Sankey's is about and Paula's winning design is going to look great on our clubbers."
