When you've been around dance music as long as Paul Taylor you kind of know your stuff.

Paul started off as a Northern Soul boy but moved into the mainstream clubs when he wanted to hit more of a "funky vibe".

He's responsible for the legend that was - is Angels in Burnley and has played alongside the likes of Carl Cox, Tall Paul and Pete Tong.
He's set up record labels including Eastern Bloc and worked with Ministry.

He now runs Retro at Ascension in Manchester and Ibiza and he took time out of his busy schedule to have a chat to Debbie Troops.

Well it turned more into a cosy soapbox kinda thing but that's a story for another day!

Paul on...the current house scene
Not great unfortunately, it's all about the quick fix and I'm not really into that.I mean I had alot of success with the Loveland thing and I can't complain but it should be about quality and alot of it isn't at the moment.

It is about giving the people what they want but it's also and more importantly about playing good music to them.We're a huge club and we get no real recognition in the music press which is unfortunate but when I see my clubs packed and know that others are half empty then I know I'm doing the right thing.

It's great I get a brilliant buzz off going out there and the audiences love us.

Yeah my son Ben is a DJ now and plays alongside me but he's got his own thing going and it's very good.He stands in for me alot now days 'cos I'm so busy and he's doing really well.
