A showcase featuring Fraser King took place last night and now they have another more up and coming bands to put on. Somehow Abode manages to create the Inverse Tardis effect - when you get through the doors, it seems as though 10 people would make the place look full. The advantage of this is that when a band takes to the area marked off for the stage, then they will at least have an audience to play to. ![]() Prestige at Abode Prestige, as they were known then - 12 hours later they’ve changed their moniker to the catchy Catfish & the Bottlemen, have a confidence and self-belief in their ability. With a delivery style much in the manner of the Arctic Monkeys, they do like to tell a tale over their catchy guitar foundations, and they have the crowd moving for the right reasons – so much so, that they plead with the sound man for another two songs to be allowed. Well, be quick, as we’re only about an hour behind schedule, but that’s about right for a Blowout event. ![]() The Hayley Faye Band at Abode The Hayley Faye Band have been intensively gigging and the hard work seems to be paying off – and the fact they kindly stepped in at the last minute as cover for a band that has pulled garnered them thanks from the promoters. It’s not a substitution as such much a worthwhile addition in their own right. Hayley seems to have exercised her own identity issues - she was previously in a band called Hannah - and the exuberance spills from the band to the crowd. They blast away from the start and provide a perfect way to say goodbye to January and look forward to sunny days. last updated: 02/02/2009 at 14:28 SEE ALSOYou are in: Manchester > Introducing > Reviews > The Hayley Faye Band at Abode |
