"The label has come up to speed far quicker than I thought and I’ve been offered some amazing opportunities, so unfortunately I can’t run both a successful night and a hopefully just as successful label, so one had to be put to bed for a while." The last Red Deer Club night – which also happens to be the gathering’s third birthday - is at its traditional home of Fuel on Saturday 12 April. The full line-up of the night will be announced on Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show four days earlier and the show also has Red Deer Club Recordings as its DIY label of the week! If you can’t make it, don’t worry. The night at Fuel isn’t quite the final farewell from Red Deer Club. That is scheduled for a month later, at Salford’s Sounds Of The Other City, where Dunk is promising that their stage will be "a festival within a festival" with a twist on their usual folk sound and a fair few surprises planned. Happily, he also hasn’t ruled out a return for the much-loved soirée at some point in the future. "We may return, who knows? Until then, there’s plenty of other nights doing what I’m doing, so let’s give them a good year to catch up to the standards of the Red Deer Club!" The Red Deer Club third birthday is at Fuel in Withington on Saturday 12 April. Sounds From The Other City is at various venues in Salford on Sunday 4 May.last updated: 16/04/2008 at 12:18 SEE ALSOYou are in: Manchester > Introducing > News and Interviews > Red Deer gets a redirection |
