Heading our way? Congestion charging
A majority of council bosses in Manchester have voted in favour of pushing ahead with the controversial congestion. But we want to know: is it a price worth paying? Vote now
Eight out of the ten Greater Manchester councils (Stockport and Trafford are against) have now voted in support of a bid for £3bn of transport investment along with the introduction of congestion charging.

But is it a price worth paying? In an official poll, 5,000 people across Greater Manchester were asked for their thoughts along with a thousand businesses. When asked about the average £5 a day charge, 53 per cent of people supported the idea of a congestion charge, with 40 per cent against.
But there was less support among businesses with 41 per cent in favour and 50 per cent against - very different to the poll commissioned by Peel Holdings recently which suggested that 80% of businesses in Greater Manchester were opposed to road pricing.
If you were not one of the 5,000 people surveyed, we’d like to know what you think of the main proposal. Read the following question carefully. And use the vote buttons on the right hand side to say whether you AGREE or DISAGREE.
NB This is NOT an official survey and will NOT be included in any public consultation on congestion charging in Manchester.
