BBC Radio Manchester Features

Lowry, Salford Quays
Good morning, Salford!

BBC Radio Salford

For one day only (Mon Feb 12), BBC Radio Manchester today becomes BBC Radio Salford. Tune in and tell us what you love about Manchester's sister city!

BBC Salford

On Monday 12 Feb 2007, BBC Radio Manchester becomes BBC Radio Salford for ONE day only.

Tune in as we turn the spotlight on Manchester's sister city Salford - four years before the BBC moves there!

Salford is a city with a proud history that produced LS Lowry, Albert Finney, Robert Powell, Christopher Eccleston and Ben Kingsley as well as musical talents like Peter Hook and Graham Nash.

Now the spotlight is shifting back to Salford following the BBC’s plans to relocate several key departments to Salford Quays in four years' time.

"It’s an exciting time for Salford, so we wanted to celebrate the character of the city: its history, music, culture, sport and of course, the people who live there," says Managing Editor John Ryan.

Proud of Salford? Tell us why: email: manchester.online@bbc.co.uk

Throughout the day BBC Radio Manchester is out and about at various locations, capturing the Salford spirit and talking to the people who have helped make it such a great city.
