A Manc on the Fringe

With Manchester’s own international arts festival only a year away, we’re going inside that theatrical behemoth, the Edinburgh Festival, with Mancunian playwright Martin Henshell. He’s taking his play, Bitches & Money, to the Fringe.

Week 5 - The best or the rest?

Bitches & Money

  • The play is on at Baby Belly 2, Niddry St in Edinburgh, from 3 to 27 August
  • Show time is 4.45pm
  • Tickets are £8

"We are now in the last week of the Festival and it is a very exiting time to be involved with the hit show Bitches & Money. We've been nominated for 'Best Ensemble' by The Stage in their Acting Excellence Awards. Quite good, no?

"Last night we met Baldrick, aka Tony Robinson, who seemed really cool, although he wasn't aware of the play Bitches & Money. He is now."
Martin sets Blackadder's sidekick straight on what he needs to see

"We are nominated against some really big shows like Black Watch from the National Theatre of Scotland, and I'll tell you what, I'd love it if we beat them!

"We saw Les Dennis again and last night we met Baldrick, aka Tony Robinson, who seemed really cool, although he wasn't aware of the play Bitches & Money. He is now.

"I'll be gutted when the festival's over. It's been a fantastic couple of weeks. If anyone is thinking of coming up, I would recommend you get on with it. It's a brilliant place to be and there's only a few more days of it or you'll have to wait a whole year.

"Apparently, we get to go to a do on the 27th to pick up our award - red carpet, free booze, the works. That should be a nice way to finish."
