Football > Premiership 14.01.06 - Man City 3-1 Man United Sir Alex Ferguson was left to ponder only his fourth Derby defeat in almost 30 encounters with Man City after Man Utd's 3-1 defeat at Eastlands - a reverse that was their third in four meetings on City's turf. Goals from Sinclair, Vassell and Fowler ensured Ruud van Nistelrooy's second half strike proved nothing more than a consolation. The City boss, Stuart Pearce, agreed that the result gave the Blue half of Manchester a great deal to cheer. The central defender, Sylvain Distin, said the victory was important because it kept City in touch with the top six, European qualifying places. 15.01.06 - Wigan 0-1 West Brom Wigan were unable to capitalise on the sending-off of West Brom's Darren Moore and fell to an Albrechtsen goal which gave the visitors their first Premiership away win of the season. The manager, Paul Jewell, was left to rue a second game within 48 hours for his side as they prepared for their FA Cup replay against Leeds. Tries from Sebastien Chabal, Mark Cueto (2) and Charlie Hodgson, who scored 15 points, sealed the victory and left the Dragons bottom of Pool One.
