Pudsey: making friends at Belle Vue

BBC GMR’s big event was the Greyhound Racing at Belle Vue, Manchester.  The event saw the BBC GMR team including Pudsey out in force to enjoy the evening’s events.

Fans made a donation of £5:50 to Children in Need to gain admittance and, speaking to a number of people, it was money well spent.

The traps opened on Race 1 at 7:20 and a massive crowd was on hand to witness the start of the evening’s events.

Presenters Allan Beswick, Mark Edwardson, Mike Shaft, Michelle Daniel & family and Heather Stott & family were on hand as were a huge contingent from the GMR newsroom.

This included Alison Wood who almost managed to clean out the bookmakers, Michelle Adamson, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Faye Ruscoe, Justin Bones, and Ed Thomas plus the GMR Bus team of Eve Hart, Richard Fair and Cathy Bailey. The whole event was organised by Rachel Manson.

And Ian Cheeseman of the BBC GMR Sports team broadcast his three hour Friday Night Sports show live from the track.

The stars of the show were the delightful Chardonnay from the Phil wood team and Pudsey who was on hand to keep everyone entertained.

The final figure raised has not yet been worked out but it will, without doubt, run into thousands.
