On my first day as a Blast reporter I was given the chance to meet members of the band Elbow. The band, whose songs include ‘Fallen Angel’ and ‘Asleep in the Back’, have been busy working on their latest release ‘Leaders of the Free World’. I sat in on the interview with Guy Garvey and Pete Turner which is featured on the BBC Manchester website [see weblink]. Whilst laying down the new album, the band has also filmed a new DVD which features the band in the studio. My first interview

This was my first chance to see what a real media interview is like. The band talked about how the album has come together and what’s going to happen over the next few months. It was interesting to see how the interview was conducted and I certainly learned some skills that I think will come in handy over the next two months. Both Guy and Pete were really cool and funny. Guy's comment - "I need my days off, my pots of plants in the backyard, my Radio 4 and my slippers" - really made me laugh!
The interview was really quite witty so I had to be careful not to laugh in case it was picked up in the studio. After meeting Guy and Pete, I'm really looking forward to hearing the material from the new album. 'Leaders of the Free World' is released on Monday 5th September 2005 |
