Futuresonic 2005 splits into three strands. Futuresonic at The Bridgewater Hall features two nights of headline acts at the massive concert venue, with Susanna and the Magical Orchestra performing their hauntingly gorgeous tunes after the crowd tastes soul sensation and techno-funk pioneer Jamie Lidell, and a world premiere of a piece from To Rococo Rot’s Robert Lippok preceded by the homecoming of A Guy Called Gerald. all of the artists at the Bridgewater shows will also be on hand before their performances to discuss their work.
Alongside the headliners, the EVNT Showcase sees a weekend of 30 music and multimedia acts. Amongst those spinning vinyl, playing tunes and baffling the eyes and ears of the audience will be local luminaries Twisted Nerve and Fat City, über cool label Big Chill Recordings, and neighbourhood specialities Stylus, That Amazing Thing, Blowout and Eyes Down.

Meanwhile, Low Grade will give artists and musicians explore old and new technology. An interlinked exhibition, workshop, live music night and symposium, it will run across the weekend and see everything from reconditioned dot matrix printers being used as musical instruments to anti-corporate knitting workshops! The best thing of all is that all you need to enjoy the festival is a wristband! Apart from the Bridgewater shows, every event at Futuresonic 2005 is free those who possess a Futuresonic wristband, which are unsurprisingly running out fast, so you’d better get one quick smart!
