Painting the Eurocultured canvas
Painting the Eurocultured canvas

Get your home Eurocultured

Were you at Eurocultured on May Bank Holiday weekend? Have you been wondering what happened to the street-long mural? If so, you’ll be happy to hear that it’s on show at Urbis until Friday 24th June when you can buy a piece of it!

The Eurocultured mural

  • The 70m canvas was painted by a variety of artists during the Eurocultured festival on Sun 29 and Mon 30 May
  • The panels of the mural are on display at Urbis until the auction on Fri 24 Jun

Artists from Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona and Paris as well as UK and local talents such as Ruse, Dabl and Tasle helped create what has become the longest canvas picture ever produced in the UK (it measured a staggering 70 metres!) and one of the largest pieces of European art ever made.

Local artist Dabl said of the canvas at the time that it had “enabled me to not only inspire young people and the next generation of artists, but also inspire myself to greater things by placing us next to some of the most respected artists in Europe.”

The canvas is now in panels and there will be a public auction of these pieces with a percentage going to Cancer Research UK, the charity chosen after one of the artists had a brush with cancer early this year.
