Coldplay and Elbow

Elbow "honoured" to support Coldplay

Having been hand picked by Coldplay to support them in their show in Bolton, Elbow have returned the compliment by saying they are "honoured to share the stage" with Chris Martin and co.

Elbow frontman Guy Garvey said that the band are "flattered and honoured to share the stage with Coldplay. It's years since we've seen the boys as we've all been so busy and I'll know they'll enjoy northern hospitality at it's best."

The size of the show isn't lost on Garvey, who has graced stages from the tiny Roadhouse to Glastonbury. "It's the first time we have played a gig this big - I might hire my old mum a limo for the day and make out I'm on more money than I am!"

Elbow support Coldplay at the first of their two Bolton shows, with fellow local favourites Doves playing the second. With support like those two, Coldplay had better not have a Live8 hangover or they'll end up being played off the stage!
