Ill Communication
Urbis until 31 October 2003
updated 16/09/03
Seak To some it is vandalism, to others it's art. Ill Communication features the work of internationally acclaimed street artists from Cologne, Eindhoven, Los Angeles, and Amsterdam who will be creating the artwork live in the gallery space.

The art pieces will be created exclusively for the duration of the show and all work will be destroyed at the end – making Ill Communication a unique viewing opportunity.

Featured artists include:

Sol Crew
Sol Crew

Sol Crew (Eindhoven)
The SOL Crew is a group of graffiti-writers from Eindhoven, Holland consisting of Erosie, Sektie, Bombkid, Late and Zime. All crew-members have a very different approach, varying from old style vintage sign-painting from Sektie, a very hand style-oriented approach by Bombkid, a more illustrative vision from Erosie to the geometric logotypes from Zime and the hardcore mentality by Late...blending together like a crew is supposed to.

Seak (Cologne)
" It is hard to describe my own style. I especially fancy painting abstract objects while splitting up the letters. Above that you can also see 3-d and lighting effects in my pieces. Whenever making sketches though I stick to letters but when painting I get so into it that lettering is drawn into the background because of colours and effects."

El Tono (Madrid)
"My artistic proposal is not only conceived for and moulded by the street, it is made in the street. It questions the mass communication society into which we have been born. We want to confront this information overdose, this visual saturation which invades every urban space, using a logo, a tuning fork, that have no commercial use."

London Police
London Police

London Police (Amsterdam)
The London Police have always been involved in graf in some way shape or form for a good part of their lives. It's been a thread that has run throughout, sometimes going below the layers within the fabric of life; and at other times being very much a surface component. They all have study backgrounds in visual communication of some sort: graphic and package design, sculpture, photography. (Note: London Police will not present their work until 29/09/03)

Solo One (London)
If you have ever been to any major city in the UK (especially London), whether you live there; work there; shop there or have just been a tourist, it is sure that there is one name either consciously or sub-consciously imprinted in your brain.

In a nutshell:
Ill Communication at Urbis until 31 October 2003
