Swimming ticket refunds offered

Acquatics Centre

Commonwealth Games organisers are offering refunds on tickets for the Synchronised Swimming after it emerged that, because so few swimmers are taking part, some sessions will last for less than an hour, and views may be restricted.

Jason Harborow, Head of Ticketing for the Commonwealth Games, says that by taking this approach they're being honest with visitors to the Games.

Speaking on BBC Radio, he said "We could quite easily have let people turn up for the session, a shorter session because of the entries, and some of the views are restricted but no worse than the Olympics or any other major sports event.

"But as the Commonwealth Games wants to offer the 'Friendly Games' and a quality experience, we felt it was only fair to make people aware that the seats were perhaps not as good as they would have expected and therefore we've either offered them half price for the session or their money back."

Letters have been sent to ticket holders offering them the chance to return their tickets or accept them at half price.
