Did you know...
In AD43, the Romans made Colchester, a British tribal centre, their capital. Only seven years after they invaded Britain did they started to build London.
London is the largest city in Western Europe and is also one of the world's most culturally diverse cities. Over 300 languages are spoken in Greater London.
The London Underground is one of the oldest and biggest metro system in the world. The first attempt to build a tunnel under the Thames was made as long ago as 1798.
In 1728 the first chocolate factory, for the purpose of making chocolate candy, was built in London.
More than 30,000 runners of all ages and abilities took part in the 21st London Marathon, held in April 2001.
