Did you know...
Brayford Pool, a natural harbour on the River Witham, was the location of an Iron-Age settlement known as "Lindun", or "The place by the pool". This was the origin of Lincoln.
Its Roman remains include Newport Arch, the 3rd century gateway to the Roman City, and now the oldest Roman archway still used by traffic.
Lincoln cathedral is the 3rd largest in Britain known for the "Lincoln Imp" carving in the Angel Choir. This stonemason's joke became the official city emblem.
Lincoln City Football Club are, of course, known as The Red Imps.
