Did you know...
The Jersey Battle of Flowers was first held in 1902 and is traditionally held on the second Thursday of August. The flowers which covered the various floats that were in the parade, were torn off and thrown to the spectators lining the route. They returned fire and the Battle of Flowers was born!
St Helier is the capital of the island of Jersey.
For 1,000 years Jersey has had a language of its own. Known as Jersey Norman-French or Jčrriai only. a handful of 2,000 people speak it fluently.
The German Underground Hospital is a complex of tunnels built in the 1940s by Jersey's occupying German forces using slave labour. There is nearly a kilometre of concrete-lined tunnels and galleries.
