Bournemouth will be celebrating the arrival of the Baton on Thursday, 20 June 2002.

Did you know...
Harper’s & Queen magazine predicted that Bournemouth would become the "Next Coolest City on the Planet".
Bournemouth received the 'Resort of the Year 2000' award.
Visitors can ride in the Visterama Balloon, which rises to nearly 500 feet, and the view stretches from the edges of the New Forest to the Purbeck hills.
Mary Shelley, the creator of Frankenstein, is entombed along with the heart of her husband, the romantic poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley in St Peter's Church in the town centre.
