Goalkeepers

-Jane Nikoloski
Goalkeeper, born 12.12.1973. He has 14 appearances for the Macedonian best team. At the moment plays for Slaven Belupo.

-Tome Pacovski (Rabotnicki Kometal)
Pacovski is the goalkeeper of the current Macedonian champion – Rabotnicki K. He is 24 and has 22 appearances in the national squad.

Defence

-Goce Sedloski
Born 10.04.1974, plays in the German Matersburg. Has scored 5 goals in the 69 matches played in the national team. Previously played with Pobeda, Hajduk (Split), Dinamo (Zagreb), Sheffield Wednesday and Wegalta, Japan.

-Igor Mitrevski
27 years old Igor Mitrevski has worn the Macedonian shirt 30 times. Played for Karaorman, Sileks, Spartak (Moscow), Metalurg, Zaporozie as well. At the moment he is in the team of Energy Kottbus, Germany.

-Nikolce Novevski
Same age as Mitrevski, Nikolce Novevski has nine matches for the national team. He plays for the German Mainz these days.

-Aleksandar Vasovski
Born on the 21.11.1979, played 33 times, scoring 2 goals. 183cm tall and 79 kg weighing Vasovski at the moment plays for Eintracht, Frankfurt.

-Robert Petrov
A year older, Petrov has appeared in the Macedonian defence 21 times. Now he defends the colours of the CSKA - Sofia. He is one of the best Macedonian footballers.

Midfield

-Igor Jancevski
32 years old Jancevski plays for Enosis Neon and previously for the Croatian Varteks. So far he’s been called up 20 times for the Macedonian squad.

-Velice Sumulikovski
Born on 24.04.1981. He’s been wearing the national shirt 34 times and had scored one goal.

-Darko Tasevski
22 years old Tasevski plays in the Metalurg team. He has appeared 7 times for the national squad.

-Artim Sakiri
Sakiri is the most experienced member of the team. 33 years old, he has played 70 matches for Macedonian squad, scored 15 goals. Recently he played in Danish Alborg, and he has worn the shirts of Karaorman, Vardar, Halmstadt, TB Berlin, HIT Gorica, Korotan, Prevale, Malatijaspor, CSKA (Sofia) and of West Bromwich Albion.

-Aleksandar Mitrevski
Aleksandar Mitrevski is 26, has been called up 24 times for the national team, and currently plays in Koln (Cologne).

Attack

-Goran Pandev
Pandev plays for Italian Lazio. He was born in 1973 and has played 28 games and scored 10 goals. Has appearances for Belasica, Inter and Spezia.

-Aco Stojkov
Aco Stojkov is born in 1983. In the 17 matches has scored 4 times. Currently plays for Partizan ( Belgrade).

-Ilco Naumovski
Naumovski plays for Matersburg. In 13 appearances has achieved one goal. So far he’s worn the shirts of GAK and Malatijaspor.

-Goran Maznov
Goran Maznov is a forward with 3 goals scored on the so far made 19 appearances with the Macedonian squad. Now plays for Lokeren.

Will Srecko ( Lucky ) bring luck?

Katanec brought Slovenia to a European and a World Cup. Srecko Katanec, born 16 July 1963 in Ljubljana, occupies himself with football from the early age of 7, in the NK Ljubljana. The year 1981 played for Olimpija.

In 1985 he made transfer in Dynamo Zagreb, and from 1986 is with Belgrade’s Partizan, where the next, 1987 he wins the Championship.

In 1988 he moves to the Stuttgart team, to play the Finals in the UEFA Cup (defeated from Napoli).

The next destination is Sampdoria in 1989, with which he wins the National Cup Winners, and in 1991 plays the finals in the European Champion Cup (defeated from Barcelona)

From 1984 on he is a football representative of SFR Yugoslavia, and appears on the European Championship in France and on the World Championship in Italy, 1990.

As a part of the Olympic team of the SFR Yugoslavia he won bronze medal on the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. He played 31 matches and scored 5 times.

After the independence of Slovenia he played 5 games for the National Team, of which only one official in Maribor played against Italy.

From 1996 onwards he is a co-selector of the national junior team of Slovenia, and from 1998 is on the bench of the National League team- HIT Gorica.

As a manager of the current Slovenian national squad he succeeded in entry to the European Championship in Belgium and Holland, and to the World Championship 2002 in Korea and Japan.

----------HISTORY----------------------------------------

The first football match in Macedonia was played in Skopje on the 20 April 1919. Selection of the English Army made up from the best players among the soldiers played against Napredak from Skopje. Napredak won 2:0.

Macedonian Football Association was founded on 14 August 1949 in Skopje, as part of the Football Association of Yugoslavia, until 1991, when the independence of the Republic of Macedonia was declared.

Most popular Macedonian players from the National Team of former Yugoslavia were: Kiril Simonovski – Gina, Blagoja Vidinic, Metodija Spasovski, Andon Doncevski, Darko Pancev and Ilija Najdovski.

First Championship of the new Association took place in the season 1992/93. FC Vardar, Skopje, was the first champion, without a lost match.

In 1994 the Football Association of Macedonia became a member of FIFA and UEFA. In 2002 the Association was renamed in Football Federation of Macedonia.

----------HISTORY OF THE NATIONAL TEAM------------

Macedonian National Team and the Football Association Of Macedonia were both founded after Republic of Macedonia established independence from federal Yugoslavia.

The first official match was played in Kranj ( Slovenia ) on the 13 October 1993 against Slovenia and resulted with a victory for the Macedonian squad with 1:4, the first attacker being Zoran Boskovski – Coko, and the team was led by the manager Andon Doncevski.

The national team started with official activities in 1994, entering the qualifications for the European Championship in 1996. First official game took place at the Skopje City Stadium, against Denmark. The match ended 1:1.

Mitko Stojkovski achieved the first goal for the Macedonian team.

Most important victory was won against Republic of Ireland (3:2) and the most convincing triumph against Liechtenstein with the score 1:11.
