Latest storiesYou are in: Look North > Latest stories > Sports Unsung Hero 2009 ![]() Sports Unsung Hero 2009Nominations are now in to find someone who goes that extra mile to make a difference to sport. A regional judging panel, made up of a cross-section of BBC sports staff and other local sports experts, will decide the winner of the BBC East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire Sport Unsung Hero 2009. All 15 BBC regional winners will then be invited to this years BBC Sports Personality of the Year show, broadcast live from the Sheffield Arena on Sunday, 13th December on BBC One, where an overall winner will be announced. Previous overall winnersMargaret Simons was the 2007 winner. She has run Bardwell Football Club in Oxfordshire since founding it in 1964. Ben Geyser is the driving force behind Dorchester Boxing Club. He won the award in 2008. Brian Manson - Theddlethorpe FC & Louth United FCLast year's BBC East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire winner is Brian. Apart from helping at the two football clubs, Brian has also developed football coaching sessions at the following schools - Grimoldby After School Club, King Edward Grammar School Club, King Edward 6th Form Games, Gradely League Mini Soccer Project - basically, all children's football in the Louth Area You can find out more about Brian's work in the following video: In order to see this content you need to have both Javascript enabled and Flash installed. To enter, you must ensure all the sections are filled in. Any nomination that doesn't include details of the nominee cannot be accepted. Your nominee must be informed and have agreed to being entered, nominees may be asked to appear on BBC TV and/or radio. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding their decision.
