Judging

Once all applications have been received by 2nd May 2008, a team from BBC East and Arts Council England will prepare a shortlist of entries to be presented between 6th and 16th May 2008 to our selection panel who will select up to five artists for the project.

The successful candidates will be notified by 23rd May 2008 and details of the film-making process and schedule will be finalised subject to mutual agreement of terms and conditions. (We may contact short-listed applicants to provide further details on their proposals).

The selection panel will be looking for the most creative thoughtful ideas and will also be looking for ideas that reflect the diversity of the region and provide a range of items for broadcasting, covering a wide range of subjects and treatments to create a compelling mixture for the audience looking to stretch the artists in new directions and build their skills and knowledge of digital media.

The selection panel is expected to include the following, who bring together a broad range of artistic and professional experience.

 Chris Gribble, Chief Executive, The New Writing Partnership
 Aileen Muir, Head of Communications, Arts Council England, East
 Tim Bishop, Head of Region, BBC East
 Anthony Roberts, Director, Colchester Arts Centre

The decision of the selection panel is final and no debate will be entered into – see rules and regulations for more details.
