PresentersYou are in: Look East > Presenters > Stewart White Stewart WhiteStewart White presents BBC Look East, the BBC's regional news programme for the eastern counties, alongside co-presenter Susie Fowler-Watt. ![]() Stewart White Stewart's first live broadcast for the BBC began with a short announcement to introduce a programme in Vietnamese on the BBC World Service. Our award-winning presenter went on to spend some time at BBC Radio Brighton before moving to BBC Radio Derby, where he produced and presented news and entertainment programmes. He moved on to BRMB Radio in Birmingham as presenter of the daily mid-morning programme, interviewing many well-known figures including senior politicians such as Edward Heath and film stars Sophia Loren, Joan Collins and Dirk Bogarde. He has the distinction of being the last person in Britain to do a live interview with Michael Jackson! It was around this time Stewart made the move from radio to television and joined ATV (later to become Central Television), working on programmes including Star Soccer, Something Different and several network documentaries. He was also the first human to appear on Spitting Image! Distinctive styleOf his on-air partnership with Susie Fowler-Watt, he says: "She is a joy to present with. There is absolute trust between us. "She can challenge people when it is needed, be light-hearted when it is needed and, most importantly, we never try to upstage each other." Stewart has kept his strong links with radio and still presents a weekly programme for BBC Radio Norfolk. His professionalism has been widely recognised and among his awards is one for Lifetime Achievement presented at the BBC Nations and Regions Ruby Television Awards in 2006.
Other accolades include the Creative Industries' Media Personality of the Year Award, the Royal Television Society East Anglia Television Personality of the Year in 2002/3 and Television News Presenter of the Year in 2000. His distinctive style helped BBC Look East win the Ruby Award for Best Regional Evening News Programme in 2006 and 2002 and the EDF Energy Award for Best Programme in 2008. He and his wife, who have three children, live in south Norfolk with a cat and several fish.
