Jimmy and Claudio have been busy - editing the latest highlights from the trip, wrestling with the satellite link ups, in-van editing programmes and compression technology. As the guys hit Italy, these clips have just arrived. Looks like the rain finally stopped, and they struck lucky with some fellow bikers on a campsite.

Have you any examples of how the biking brotherhood help each other out? What friends have you made during your own 'long way downs'? Why not send us a comment with links to your own clips, images or blogs? As long as they follow the house rules, we'll publish them. Remember you can add tags for style, and to make your links live - <b> for bold, <i> for italics and <a href="url"> for a link.

We asked what friends you'd made on your trips - see your responses below.

    LWR

Myself and my friend Dylan have been touring for years, but we used to do it on mountain bikes. We cycled across europe and coast to coast across North America. Now we are in our thirties and settled with jobs we find it much harder to get away on big trips. so we have both got ourselves some adventure bikes now, i have a kle 500 and dylan has an africa twin. We have just got back from a trip to spain and are planning to ride to Norrdkapp in Norway next summer. the LWR was very inspirational to us. Good luck guys and come home safe.

    Claudio and Jimmy's Hard Work

Thanks for all of your hard work, guys. I am a great fan of LWR, and being able to see these daily updates of LWD is fantastic. In a very small way, it makes those of us sitting at home feel as if we're on the trip as well. Again, your hard work, trials, and tribulations, are much appreciated.

    Never been biking...

But every time I watch Long Way Round it feels like I have! I can't wait for Long Way Down...and well done to the BBC & LWD crews for embracing the mobile world and giving us 'live' updates - they're brilliant!

    Jimmy, Caludio, 'All-yall!

Given that editing is SO much more work than shooting, something like five times the amount of time to edit versus shoot if I recall correctly, AND you're traveling AND you're tired AND you've the rush/fatigue of the adrenaline high of it all ... THANK YOU FOR THE EFFORT! :-)Spaghetti served up for you at the camp?! 'Suhwheeeet! The serendipitous moments are the BEST when traveling. Planning a trip to the Great Smokey Mountains in the US myself I came across two great quotes ... "Travel, at it's best, is a process of continually conquering disbelief." - Michael Palin and "A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving." - Lao Tzu. Mr. 'Tzu's observations aside, here's to a GREAT trip and a safe arrival. :-)

    Brothers in Spain

Hi Ewan, Charley and all the LWD crew... Glad to hear you're heading out of the rain - it will definitely get hotter and drier where you are heading. Two guys on sport bikes saved me from madness in Madrid - they went way out of their way to guide me and my Melawend out of the city as I headed for Valencia and the sunny Mediterranean on my round-the-world motorbike ride... Ride safe. Ride well. Godspeed, gentlemen! Tom

    In rain: Cotton BAD

Hey fellas, Stay away from cotton in the wet. Microfiber or synthetic clothing will dry fastest. Even sleeping in synthetic fiber in a sleeping bag will dry it with your body warmth. Cotton? Cold and wet, will stay cold and wet. Jealously from Seattle

    Camping is cool

:) Campers are the coolest. They are very frindly. The video just reminded me of so many camping trips with my parents. If you'll find the time stop at the Marmore Waterfalls (7 km from Terni) it's beautiful. Hope you enjoy your trip so far even if it rains. Ride save. I'll really look forward to read more :).
