Cape Town - the final destination ©
Well, the guys have made it to Cape Town, and their expressions above say it all.
The guys arrived in Cape Town by convoy yesterday - see a glimpse of the events in the clips above. It would be great to see some of your highlights of the day - if you were there and have put up pictures or movies on the web, send a link via a comment below.
Ewan stopped to think about the 15,000 miles they've travelled ... 'So here we are, Charley and I have made it to Cape Agulhas, and we've got to ride to Cape Town after this, so this trip's not quite finished. But this is the most southerly point, and we started in the most northerly point of Great Britain, in Scotland, and we've made it to the most southerly point in Africa - we've done that much at least.'
Ewan and Charley and the LWD team were then joined by a convoy of biking well wishers for the last few miles into Cape Town. Congratulations guys, what a trip, and thanks for having us along.
Thank you too for all your messages of congratulations and thanks to the guys on the road and the web team here at the BBC. We're going to miss these updates as much as you are - but will miss all your wonderful comments just as much - all your encouragement, advice, humour, they really cheered us up each day, and made this trip feel like a truly global event with so many messages coming in from around the world. Hope you can all catch the series at some point - it's on in the UK on BBC TWO this Autumn.
It looked like quite an emotional day at Cape Town. We wondered if you'd been there when the guys arrived, and had any clips or pictures to share. See below for your messages and links.

Inspired...
Hey Guys, I have to tell you that your first trip inspired me so much I decided to take one myself. My sister has been struggling with MS for more than 15 years and I just finished a trip I put together which was only 4000 miles But, I raised $10,000 for MS and brought some much needed attention to the illness. Thanks for the insperation and I plan on taking many more trips as there is no better way to travel than on 2 wheels. Scott

Will miss you
HI Guys, Congratulations! I was very lucky and was there at the beginning and I have watched your every movement with great interest and enjoyment. Every day after work I would make a cup of tea and check your progress which would transport me thousands of miles away. Will miss you both terribly, I am sure others feel we have been along with you on the ride and enjoyed your company immensely. Can't wait for the DVD! With much love and affection. K

The End... almost
Every journey begins with the first step.I presume the first step was years ago, when LWR first started?! In that case, this trip is not over… and will not be for a long time; until LW-UP is complete!!! To think one book started it all; Ted Simon’s “Jupiter’s Travels”…..which I finished reading last night! I’m looking forward to reading the follow up to the original… and to LWU!!! In the meantime “I dream a lot. Often I dream of riding over the hard red floor of a great forest, beneath a high canopy of translucent green, spreading on and on. An enchanted forest, perhaps, where men still sometimes play at being gods.”

Global event
Cry, cry ,cry, it's so sad that your adventure has come to an end! I'm happy you made it to Cape Town safely and in one piece. And you brought together so many people from all over the world following your trip, but also sharing their dreams. I think there also was a boost to the UNICEF support, which is great! Not only the LWD team feels like family now, but many people out there. I hope to meet some of them, when I'm going out for my adventure about this time next year, I call it 'Full Circle Down Under' (no border crossings, Russ)! So it's goodbye for now, hopefully not for long. Thank you so much again, love and all the best for you and your families! And for all the travelers out there!
