When asking for directions, a young boy kindly offers to show the guys how to get to their hotel, and hops onto the back of Ewan’s bike.

Ewan tells the story. 'So we picked up that little boy, and he said 'I'll show you the way,' and he jumped on the back of my bike. We rode with him all the way down here, it must have taken us about 40 minutes to get here.

'And I said to him, 'how are you going to get home?' and he said 'no, I'll stay here and then go back with you tomorrow'. And I went, 'OK, but what about your mummy? Your mummy will be worried?' and he was like, 'tut, no'.

'And then I said to the guys when we checked in, 'what about this wee boy's mum? I mean we've taken him and he's come from quite far away to show us the place. Won't his mum be worried?' and they were like 'tut, no'.

Ewan laughs, 'So there we are, my British sensibilities!'

In the next clip, Ewan is mesmerised by certain anatomical features of a couple of goats. The clip has to be viewed to understand what he's talking about - but is not for viewers of a sensitive disposition!

'Did you get the nut-flap?' Ewan asks Charley, on camera.

'I mean the nut-flap is, it seems excessively painful, doesn't it? If your testicles are that big and you're running around, that's going to happen. Not that I would know, I mean I suppose...'

'Well, maybe they quite like it?' Charley points out. 'Just gets them going.'

Any memories of great guides who helped show you the way? Post a comment below.

The guys asked for suggestions on where to visit in Namibia and South Africa - head into the fact files to see your recommendations.

    The greatest guide

I've met was one in Germany. I was there for three weeks learning the language and he was our guide for all the trips we were on. Not as interesting as Africa obviously but he was a good guide anyhow.

thanks, I'm now in trouble at work!

The people in my office now think I've gone completely bonkers. I laughed out loud at the whole "nut flap" video (I know, I shouldn't be perusing LWD whilst at work) and co-worker's heads kept popping up over their cubicle walls as I guffawed my way through the video. It looked oddly reminiscent of seeing prairie dogs peer out of their dens. Great stuff, guys!

    Stepping up!!!!

Well, I'm pleased to announce the sale of my KTM 640, I will be stepping up to a KTM 950 Adventure tonight! The 640 was great for a trip around the Great Lakes...Ontario, Canada area... but the 950 will be better suited to go round the world and for cross continental trips!!! As for my guide... my heart... although, I must admit, I have GSP running in my veins now!!!!

    Angels to guide you

Hi guys... your wonderful story of the boy that led you to your hotel brings back memories of angels that seemed to appear when needed... the two Spaniards on sport bikes who guided me & Melawend out of Madrid to the road to Valencia... the two little boys in Bombay (Mumbai) who led me to a budget hotel... the Japanese woman on a busy street in Tokyo seeing I was lost read the street name someone had written in Japanese for me then led me two blocks out of her way to point it out (she enabled me to reach my appointment on time.) Do you ever get the feeling someone is watching over you? How is it going for you, Eve? Looking forward to your first post. Keep up the great ride! Tom, the RTW-scooter guy.

    Never had a guide ...

Never had a guide as always preferred fumbling along the route myself … of course that can (and has) landed me in some trouble over the year – all part of the fun! Well 1,700 miles to go – almost there!! Richard T PS Where on earth did that child sit on Ewan's loaded bike?

    Let Me Be Your Guide

We hired a quiet man by the name of Louis in the town of Banos in Ecuador. Our mission: The Amazon Jungle.

He was great, and quickly was a part of our adventure. We survived days in the Jungle thanks to him. He showed us awesome treasures the Jungle provided, got us through dense areas, waterways, and kept us clear of crocs & anacondas.

    Good Times! Cheers!--Alex Hart

    Great guide?

Yeah, like everyone who has traveled, I've encountered a few guides but none like this! What a kid! And it's really cool in a way that everybody is so laid back there... the opposite of what we'd be in the same situation! VALUABLE TIPS DATABASE? Also I was looking at the route map, god you've really come a long long way... There's so little left! And on this site, there are so many insider tips from people who have been to all these African countries. I'm wondering if all this valuable info will be put in the book too??? I REALLY hope so.. If not, then I have a LOT of copy / pasting to do : ) !

    Nut flap

I crossed my legs watching that, surely that can't be pleasurable. Maybe their lads need to be shaken up a bit though, like a milkshake or something....still...ouch.
