In this week’s interview with Chris Moyles, Ewan talked about their visit to Marsasbit Lodge where they saw African elephants in the wild. And here they are!

An excited Ewan is lying on the ground, lit up by the camera light. 'We're about twenty feet away from wild elephants. Twenty feet, look at this!'

The camera pans around to reveal a family of elephants, big and small, who don’t seem to be bothered at having an audience!

And we have more footage of the horrendous road conditions the guys were talking about in Kenya. It looks like it was quite a chore getting up those hills. David tells us about it...

'At first we tried to stick together but they're shaking like you can't imagine, these roads are either gravel or grit or whatever.

But we're getting there, I mean we just passed half way through the trip yesterday, so that means we're officially going home as opposed to going away.

But this road is the road that everyone talks about being horrible, and it's actually worse than we imagined'.

Ewan and Charley were awestruck by the elephants. We wanted to know if you had seen any wild animals on your travels - see your comments below.

    LWD vs Wild

The Elephants are so cool. That has to be one of the most awesome creatures to view up close and personal. Their power is majestic and humbling.

I've seen wild Monkeys, Caiman and Snakes in S.America to Dolphins, Whales, Sharks and Manta Rays in the Pacific

    Cheers! Alex

    Not so wild animals

When I was in Kruger Park, South Africa, it was really crowded with tourists. There was this one giraffe and more than a dozen busses and cars lining up for the people to take pictures. And I give you my word, the giraffe was actually posing....

    Seeing animals in the wild

It has definitely been the most important part of the few trips I have been lucky enough to make. My most exciting moment was seeing African wild dogs - one of Africa's most endangered mammals. We were so lucky... first day in The Kruger NP and there they were - three gorgeous dogs - trailing a zebra. I was so excited I couldn't hold my camera steady for the whole 15 minutes we watched them. If you get the chance to see them, you really must... they are fantastic animals. Ellies are awesome, so quiet for such a large animal and so easily hidden behind a scant bush! I love the rumbles they make. Glad you got such a safe close encounter with them.

    Thrill

I grew up in Zimbabwe, and once a month, at the crack of dawn, my family would go out into the Matopos National Park for breakfast on an open fire and then spend the day driving around looking for game. It's a real thrill to see Ewan getting such a kick out of seeing wild elephants. I hope the team get to see a lot more of the hugely varied wildlife.

    Awe and Excitement

I am sorry to say that I have never seen any animals in the wild except for deer, moose, and elk. I took many lovely pictures of them. They were a beautiful sight to see, but nothing compared to the beautiful elephants that Ewan was seeing. Ewan, I can see the awe on your face, and hear the excitement in your voice. It must have been a sight to behold. So I thank you for sharing the elephants with all of us. Have you, or will you, be seeing any other animals along the way? Ride safe and be safe--Char

    Wildlife.. Wow...

Wow. It is humbling to see such magnificent creatures up close. There's something magical about elephants. It is truly amazing and I think refreshing to be away from the city. To be in a place where mankind has not yet left its mark... It makes you realize and appreciate what an incredibly beautiful place our world is and be thankful for that... It also makes me feel compelled to do something to protect and preserve it, since human interference has had such a negative impact on practically everything.. I hope that you'll always remember these days and carry a piece of this trip with you.

    Wildlife.. Wow..(cont'd)

Last year I was in Adrasan (near Antalya, Turkey) on the mediterranean. The carettas ( sea tutles) come to nest there. One morning when we woke up, we were amazed to see the tracks of baby turtles leading from the sandy beach to the sea!! I felt so lucky to see them 'cause I was only there for a week.. Also, when I was a kid, I got to see wild dolphins passing in the front the house (in the sea - not a pool!)! Right here in Istanbul! They'd usually swim there around dawn when all is still and the morning air is still cool. I have a soft spot for wildlife and seeing that video made me want to come down there and see it with my own eyes so much! But having you guys be there and this amazing website is the next best thing! Thank you all so much and take care !
