Making headway through Ethiopia ©
Ewan looks back on a great day in Ethiopia. After camping in the compound, they find themselves high up in the mountains.
Ewan describes the scene. 'Trees and mountain air, there's a smell of eucalyptus here, and all day we've passed cattle coming down, sheep and goats and people - hundreds and hundreds of people! And the life on the road. We've seen extraordinary things today.
'There was one moment where it was as if there was an exodus from a village. I thought there was like a tribe of people coming down the road. They were just coming at us, all these people, people, people, and I just thought we're clearly heading the wrong way!
'And then in Gondor. It's great when you arrive in a town like that because you arrive and think, we've never been in a town like that before. Suddenly we were swarmed with people, you're a bit nervous, and then half an hour later you just think those guys are such characters! All of those little kids round about.'
Ewan tries to change some money - but no deal's reached. 'They’re just characters, you know, funny wee guys. They don't mean any harm. They just wanted a bit of money or whatever, but they weren’t going to touch our stuff. You realise you're safe, you know? They were really sweet. I loved it today, it was brilliant.'
Meanwhile, David was enjoying a visit to a coffee shop in Addis Ababa.
'This place is incredible. They actually roast the coffee. It's probably one of the most famous coffee shops in Addis. The people are so nice, it's a very social thing. We’re on our way to Yerga café, which Ethiopians claim is the birthplace of coffee. Maybe the South Americans have an opinion about it. We are on our way there - the coffee here is so delicious. You don't use sugar, you don't use milk, and we're just about to buy some to take home.'
The guys wanted suggestions for places to visit in Tanzania and Malawi - head to the fact files to find the recommendations you sent in.

People and bike experience
Hi Charley and Ewan, I was wondering if you think you would have been treated different during the LWR and LWD if you were woman and how would you feel about Ewes and Ollies Safetynes if they did the same kind of trips on their own. How much of Bike experience do you need to do trips like LWR and LWD? Stay Cool! Thank you for giving me dreams. Jess

Unfortunately, I don't have any recommendations to pass aon to you guys as I'm learning about these places through your experiences! But I just wanted to say that it's great that you had such a wonderful day and to remember the experience and what it felt like so that it's memory can help you get through the tough times that may (but hopefully not!) lie ahead...

Kruger Park!
I've said it before but I'll kepp saying it as I love South Africa! Visit Kruger National Park for all the wildlife and also try and visit Gold Reef City if you get a chance. Built around a gold mine you can watch them make a HEAUGE bar of gold and if you can pick it up, you can take it home! Shame it's impossible, it weighs a tonne and it's so slippery you can't get a grip on it. Good fun trying, though! Love Shellie

Place to visit and stay in Malawi
You chaps have to go to Fat Monkeys at Lake Malawi. The diving is great, like swimming in a fish tank. You are going to love Malawi. The most humble and friendly people in Africa. Enjoy the experience at the Lake of Stars.
